Joel Edgerton

After a breakthrough performance in The Animal Kingdom, actor Joel Edgerton has found his star rising rather quickly with turns in Warrior and forthcoming performances featured in The Great Gatsby and The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Now the actor is turning to another part of the film industry as THR reports Edgerton has just sold his own spec script One Night Stand to New Regency. Described as a drama with comedic elements, the story is said to follow a man and a woman following their encounter during a one night stand. As of now, Edgerton is not expected to star in the film, but he will be executive producing.

While it's common to have actors turning to the director's chair, not many of them, outside of established comedians, turn to the writing side of things. It's a quick jump behind-the-scenes for Edgerton who has only recently started to become a household name. Edgerton is still due for a huge role after missing out on snagging the lead role in The Bourne Legacy, and there's been talks of him leading 300: Battle of Artemisia, so we'll see what happens on that front. Meanwhile, I'm interested to see what Edgerton brings to the table as a writer, not to mention who will end up taking on the project as director.
