This actor, who appeared in "Who's That Girl?" and "Hot Resort" as well as the Weather Girls video "It's Raining Men" died at the age of 27. Does anyone know what caused his death at such a young age?

hello!

I was wondering the same thing. Although Who's That Girl is a very dumb movie, I still get a kick out of it. I guess it's what one might call a "guilty pleasure". At any rate, I am sure that James Dietz could have had a great career in movies. I would love to know how he died so young.

James Dietz - cause of death?

I won't rest until I find out more. I create articles about people born in 1960. Apparently he died not long after his second movie.

James Dietz ause of death

James died from a medical condition called Wolfe Parkinson White syndrome or WPS. It isn't a very well known condition but also isn't so rare no one has ever heard of it. It is easily found on research sites. No one other than his immediate family knew he had this condition. At the time, treatment was very invasive and did not guarantee to remedy the irregular cardiac condition. Opting to forgo open heart surgery with up to a year of recovery, he felt he could somewhat control the episodes- a feat literally and obviously impossible. His youthful and unique confidence cost him his life and untold heartache to those closest to him. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, I hope this is sufficient to answer the question as to his cause of death and end unnecessary and unkind speculation. He will always be the most beautiful person inside and out I will ever have the honor and indescribable blessing to know and love. May his memory be eternal.

I think about Big Jimmy Dietz often. He worked out with me at Iron Masters gym in Brooklyn back in the early 80's. I was only 15 back then, but Jimmy was quite impressive. He was around 6'4" and his physique reminded me of Arnold's; especially his arms. Huge arms with garden hose cephalic veins. Amazing! I heard from the guys in the gym that he died from a congenital heart defect; essentially he had a heart attack. What a waste of talent. Very sad. He was always supportive and genuinely nice to me and all of the guys in the gym. He is missed.

Dr. Bob was right. Jimmy died way too young in his prime of a heart attack. What a shame. I followed my HS sweethart's career from HS to Hollywood. He enjoyed his shot at fame and all the glamour that went along with it. Jim had a way of lighting up the room with his smile and charm. He was one of a kind and is missed.

I too remember Jimmy Dietz from Iron Masters in the early to the mid 80's. Real nice guy. His brother (whose name I can't remember) also trained there as well. I heard from a guy that worked @ Iron Masters Gym whose name was Eddie Pace said that he passed from a drug over dose at some party in the Hollywood Hills. How true it is , I don't know. I also remember the owners of the gym Kenny Thompson & John Cordero saying the same thing. When I heard the news I just couldn't believe it. He had so much potential. Who knows how far his career could've gone in Hollywood. He certainly could have competed in the Mr. Olympia contest.

Gym

Is iron masters still around? Couldn't find any info on it. Where was it located and why did it shut down?

Hello

I went to Fort Hamilton HS with Jimmy back in the mid 70's when he was a tall skinny kid in gym class with Mr. Kenneth Kern & I knew him well. I also worked out at Iron Masters gym in Bay Ridge Brooklyn with him in the 80's & as the years went by we lost touch with each other. Then many years later I was told that he was on steroids & some weird diet that cause him heart failure in a hotel in Hollywood. Very Sad, he would be 53 years old today.

Memories

I met Jim back in 1980 through a friend , Oh man was I impressednot only a big ass dude but very good looking as well, though I knew him we hung out a couple of times even though I saw him a lot he was living in Brooklyn at the time, I introduced him to my cousin who he took an immediate liking to, I remember like it was yesterday back in 1985 we all went out to dinner & than a horrible movie on 42st Jimmy was head over heals for her she was completely over whelmed by his presence I remember going back to his apartment & hearing her cry in the other room she wanted to go home Jim was a such a gentlemen anyone who really knew him knew that his license plate said the same thing hahahha, so he drove us all back to LI, she told me he kept calling her non stop he really fell for her I wish she could say the same thing, it wasn't his looks it was his presence he was totally over whelming for her.

Cool guy

I knew Jim fairly well he sort of dated my cousin back in 83, I told him that I have a good looking cousin so I setup a dinner date at a restaurant called the wicked wolf a regular spot that Jim use to eat atshe was freaked out by the size of him & very intimidated him on the other hand fell for her big time it was a weird night after we ate we went to a movie on Broadway my cousin started getting sick because of all the white Russians she drank so we left & went back to Jims apartment in Brooklyn, if Jim thought he was getting in her pants he was sorely mistaken she started to cry Jim later told me, any way morning had come & Jim drove us back to Long Island, he fell for her head over heels because of her innocence he kept calling her but she was afraid so she kept telling her mother she wasn't finally Jim had enough, do you guys remember the Lincoln with the suicide doors that Jim had & who can forget his license plate that said GentleMenJim,
