For the remake of the 1984 cult movie The Karate Kid, Columbia Picture has choosen Jaden Smith!

A martial arts practitioner, Jayden Smith is the ten-year old actor son of Will Smith, and has been seen in The Pursuit of Happiness. Next month we'll see him in The Day the Earth Stood Still.

The remake of The Karate Kid is being produced by Jerry Weintraub (who also produced the original film), James Lassiter and Will Smith.

The script is being written by Chris Murphy, and most of the film should take place in Asia.

The character of Mr. Kesuke Miyagi, portrayed by the late Pat Morita in the original movies, is rumored to be played by Stephen Chow.
