Directed by Renny Harlin, "Deep Blue Sea" (also known as "Blu profondo") is an Action/Horror/Thriller film, released in the USA on July 26 of 1999 . Thomas Jane (Carter Blake) and Saffron Burrows (Dr. Susan McCallister) are starring, alongside LL Cool J (Sherman 'Preacher' Dudley), Michael Rapaport (Tom "Scoggs" Scoggins), Stellan Skarsgård (Jim Whitlock) and Samuel L. Jackson (Russell Franklin).

Renny Harlin has also directed LL Cool J in Mindhunters, released in 2004 (Gabe Jensen). As an actor, LL Cool J has been seen in movies such as Edison, released in 2005 playing Officer Rafe Deed, Deliver Us from Eva (2003) playing Raymond 'Ray' Adams, Charlie's Angels (2000) in which he portrays Mr. Jones, Kingdom Come (2001) (Ray Bud Slocumb), Last Holiday (2006) as Sean Matthews, and B*A*P*S (1997).

Renny Harlin (director) and Stellan Skarsgård have also been associated in Exorcist: The Beginning, released in 2004 in which Stellan Skarsgård portrays Father Merrin. As an actor, Stellan Skarsgård has been seen in movies such as The Glass House, released in 2001 portraying Terrence 'Terry' Glass, GlasblÃ¥sarns barn (1998) in which he plays Albert, Dogville (2003), Thor (2011) in which he portrays Professor Andrews, Pelle Svanslös i Amerikatt (1985) playing Pelle Swanson, and City of Ghosts (2002) playing Joseph Kaspar.
