Directed by Renny Harlin, "Deep Blue Sea" (also known as "Blu profondo") is an Action/Horror/Thriller film, released on July 26 of 1999 in the USA . Thomas Jane (Carter Blake) and Saffron Burrows (Dr. Susan McCallister) are starring, alongside LL Cool J (Sherman 'Preacher' Dudley), Michael Rapaport (Tom "Scoggs" Scoggins), Stellan Skarsgård (Jim Whitlock) and Samuel L. Jackson (Russell Franklin).

Renny Harlin has directed Samuel L. Jackson in Cleaner, released in 2007 in which Samuel L. Jackson portrays Tom Carver. As an actor, Samuel L. Jackson has been seen in movies such as Jurassic Park, released in 1993 (character: Ray Arnold), Le Violon rouge (1998), Home of the Brave (2006) portraying Will Marsh, Ragtime (1981), Changing Lanes (2002) as Doyle Gipson, and Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) portraying Valentine.

Renny Harlin (director) and LL Cool J have worked together on Mindhunters, released in 2004 in which LL Cool J portrays Gabe Jensen. As an actor, LL Cool J has been seen in movies such as In Too Deep, released in 1999 as Dwayne Gittens/God, Any Given Sunday (1999) in which he portrays Julian Washington, Last Holiday (2006) (character: Sean Matthews), Edison (2005) in which he plays Officer Rafe Deed, Krush Groove (1985), and Charlie's Angels (2000) in which he portrays Mr. Jones.
