Before Aliens, James Cameron had directed The Terminator, released in 1984, Piranha Part Two: The Spawning (1981), Xenogenesis (1978). Since, he directed The Abyss, released in 1989, Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), True Lies (1994), Titanic (1997), Avatar (2009).

Future projects of James Cameron include Avatar 3, planned to be released in 2020, Avatar 2 (2018).
