Andrew Marton was a director, producer, and actor. Before directing The Longest Day, he had directed It Happened in Athens, released in 1962, Green Fire (1954), Men of the Fighting Lady (1954), Prisoner of War (1954), The Devil Makes Three (1952), and King Solomon's Mines (1950). Since, Andrew Marton directed 55 Days at Peking, released in 1963, The Thin Red Line (1964), Crack in the World (1965), Around the World Under the Sea (1966), Birds Do It (1966), and Kampf um Rom I (1968).
Bernhard Wicki was an Austrian actor, director, and screenwriter. Before making The Longest Day, he had directed Das Wunder des Malachias, released in 1961. Since, Bernhard Wicki directed The Visit, released in 1964.
