Third and Ultimate The X-Files movie

In spite of the commercial failure of The X-Files: I Want to Believe, producer and screen writer Frank Spotnitz said that a third and final film is definately something he'd be keen to do.

If a third X-Files movie is done, it would focus on the symbolic date of December 2012, when an alien colonization would happen.

The exploitation of the 2012 date by Roland Emmerich in his 2012 movie coming next year is not a problem for Spotnitz, as they would be completely different films.

The X Files: I Want to Believe is the second movie from The X-Files franchise starring David Duchovny as FBI agent Fox Mulder, and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully. Released in July, and with the a budget of $30 million, it has earned an estimated $21 million in the USA.

Spotnitz said everyone involved in The X-Files franchise is awaiting the results of the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of The X Files: I Want to Believe to decide on the future of the franchise.

So you know what to do if you want to see the epilogue!

YEAH !!! It s a good new, to know that a third movie will be produced... It will be the real end of TXF, even if I wouldn't like it ending... But all good things must have an epilogue... But must I trust it? The truth is out there...

Bring on TXF 3!

I think they can do great things if they go back to the show mythology.

Lets see them DO it! If you want to see it, be sending those messages out to CC and Frank.

yes

there should defo be a new 3rd film. the x files were great but they never really got to the truth. a third film will tell us if 'the truth is out there' and it will end the franchise in the way it should be ended. bring it on!!!

NOoooooooo... it can't be the end!!

I am happy to hear of possible plans for a 3rd Xfiles movie, but I'm also disappointed to hear it being referred to as the final movie. I had hoped that Xfiles would turn into a real movie franchise with a new movie coming out every 2 to 3 years after the conclusion of the series. If it hadn't have taken so long for the 2nd movie to be made and released, I think more of the fan base might have remained interested enough to come to the 2nd movie.

I've also been a fan of the series from the first pilot episode and love all the characters and stories. Of course I favored some episodes more than others, but I appreciate them all as part of the ongoing Xfiles story. They all added their own piece of the puzzle and flavor to the series. Though I was interested in the mythology storyline, I really liked the stand-alone MOTW stories. As far as I'm concerned the second movie was just at good as the first one, and had it's own story to tell.

It was disappointing to see it not do that well at the box office, and that was probably due to several factors... the main one being it having taken so long to get it made and released. I don't think it was necessarily because it didn't include the Mythology of the series, as there are plenty of fans who love the Xfiles regardless of the story being told. I am disappointed that so many "mythology" fans judged it so harshly or didn't come to it at all because of that. Their behavior seems a bit like "sour apples" to me on their part... they didn't get just what they wanted, so they decided to pout and not come. What are they.... spoiled children?

Anyway... I am still hoping... maybe beyond hope that XFiles 3 won't be the final movie and the end of the franchise. If it is successful.... I'm hoping FOX, CC and FS, as well as DD and GA of course.... and all the other characters we love will continue making XF movies for us for years to come.

Another Season leading to the final Movie, Hell Yes! but I woulnd't hold my breath!

I think they should create one more Season leading towards the Final Movie, and explore and explain the whole Myth and things that were left unanswered at the end of season 9, including baby William, will he be the answer to stop the colonization?, is Smoking Man really dead? (it would def be fun to watch him die once more, at least to make sure...LOL) . To Have both Mulder & Scully, but Dogett & Reyes and of course their boss Skinner.

X-Files 3

As i'm reading this, I'm thinking that i haven't seen the other two! And didn't want to ........... i guess after the show ended I wasn't interested. I should probably check it out to see if I'm missing anything!

You should check out the first movie FIGHT THE FUTURE at least, it's the link between seasons 5 & 6. Personally, I think 20th Century Fox would be insane not to let Chris Carter do a third movie for 2012, it's what every single fan is waiting for. If they don't, they're going to have alot of pissed off Philes on their hands. WAKE UP TCF!!!

If this movie IS indeed in the works, there are still a LOT of loose ends to tie up here. Chris Carter left a lot of things unanswered and it is totally unfair to fans to be left hanging. If a third movie is in the works, I hope they include the return of their son, William, as he is supposed to play a major role in the alien invasion and if they keep in line with what was proposed in the very last episode of the series, this should be a fabulous movie! If they don't, I think for a lot of fans this franchise will die a horrible death and never be as big as SW or ST. Don't let us down, Frank! We XF fans are counting on you to pull this out of your ass!

An X-files movie featuring the Characters John Doggett played by Robert Patrick and Monica Reyes played by Annabeth Gish is way over due. The TV series unfortunately did not have a tenth season that would have not only been able get into more character development for both, but also resolve and close the book on DoggettÂ’s kidnapped son and the person responsible. I never really felt when Mulder and Scully gave up the son William by putting him up for adoption would make him safe for the rest of is live. If he really was that special ultimately he never would be truly safe and at some point Fox Mulder and Dana Scully would have to come to their teenage son ad. The third X-files film should have this theme
