Directed by Nick Cassavetes, and written by Jeremy Leven (screenplay), Nicholas Sparks (novel), and Jan Sardi (adaptation), "The Notebook" is a Drama/Romance film, released on May 20 of 2004 in the USA . Tim Ivey (Rower) and Gena Rowlands (Allie Calhoun) are starring, alongside Starletta DuPois (Nurse Esther), James Garner (Duke), Anthony-Michael Q. Thomas (Nurse Keith) and Ed Grady (Harry).

As an actor, James Garner has performed in movies such as Boys' Night Out, released in 1962 in which he plays Fred Williams, Space Cowboys (2000) (Tank Sullivan), Shoot-Out at Medicine Bend (1957) in which he plays Sgt. John Maitland, Fire in the Sky (1993) in which he portrays Lieutenant Frank Watters, The Thrill of It All (1963) in which he portrays Dr. Gerald Boyer, and Cash McCall (1960) in which he portrays Cash McCall.
