The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Warner Bros. has picked up the film rights to Chris Weitz's young adult novel "The Young World". Weitz will not only adapt his book for the big screen, he will also produce and direct the film.

In the book, the world has been all but destroyed by some sort of epidemic, which has killed all children and adults, leaving only teenagers to fend for themselves. Theirs is a world without modern luxuries of electricity, Internet, running water, video games, medicine or phones. The book is the first in a trilogy by Weitz.
